i hate when ppl i follow who have great content reblog something racist and then have the nerve to be all “it’s the internet!” “stop taking it so seriously!” “i didn’t post it, someone else did, i’m just reblogging it!”
jfc, why can’t i just enjoy the internet without my identity as an educated nigerian american woman being attacked in some way? why should i have to not express how a post is hurtful to me and many other POC or women simply because it’s on the fuckin’ internet? since when does freedom of speech mean u can say stupid shit and be surprised when ppl call u out on it?
i don’t kno what is more disturbing. is it the fact that 74% of tumblr users r white and me seeing so much racist shit COULD be a testament to how little this country has changed? or is it the fact that most tumblr users are between the ages of 18 and 24 and therefore in my age-group which ALSO supports the fact that racism is passed from the parents to the young?
like seriously, ppl? read a fuckin’ book, LEARN SOMETHING. better yet, have a conversation or two with a bunch of POC and/or females before u post something offensive and then start acting like u were born yesterday when ppl have shit to say about ur gross, narrow-minded opinion.
